We created branding for an event called "Ofrendas" put together by Bolita Masa and My Friend Fernando. Ofrendas celebrates Latinx and Chicano chefs in the Bay Area by uplifting and bringing the community together. We illustrated elements to capture the vibrant lively celebration while honoring Mexican design aesthetics.
The patterns were inspired by Papel Picado, “punched” paper, a traditional art from Mexico. We made illustrations of vegetables that were commonly found in Latin American dishes and items that can be found on the altars during the Mexican Día de Muertos celebrations.
The event organizers wanted to incorprate earthy colors into the palette. We chose to also add in pops of orange and pink to bring some vibrancy to reflect the fun nature of the event.
